So I am sitting at the coffee shop updating the laptop and iPhone and reading websites...and people watching! Anybody else have that hobby? There is the young couple with the toddler who is sucha cutie, the chief of police who comes in everyday...I am here once or twice a week and I find it nice to see the same faces. Even though you don't know them personally, it's like you "know" them sort of...makes town feel a little familiar.
Do you people watch?

I certainly do, mrsbee. ;D
It fascinates me to see how people behave when they're unaware they're being watched.
One type of person who causes my lips to purse in disapproval is the woman (it's usually a woman) who is rude to, or offhand with, the person serving them at a store or a cafe.
I was at a cafe last Saturday with two friends. In walked a woman with the most adorable little girl, about 2 years old. The little girl looked as though she'd dressed herself, and was wearing a beautiful hand knitted cardigan. She sat very nicely and had her drink and cookie/biscuit with the woman we found out was her Grandma.
One friend couldn't resist; she had to tell the Grandma how sweet the little girl was. It turned out that they were having this special morning tea together because the little girl's mother, the grandmother's daughter, had gone into hospital that morning to give birth to her second child. It was so sweet.

I have found people watching a lot harder since we left our hometown nearly 8 years ago. It is like a cultural difference.
I can imagine the chief is interesting because of your son's work mrsbee. I'm jealous. Sometimes my people watching gets me into trouble. I do the same thing as before, but it turns out these people are local I just don't know them yet. When I find out who they are I am usually sorry for watching them.
I go early to school to get my car space, and I get the feeling that people who are further up the road dislike me sitting in my car looking around. At home I used to do it at school all the time. It didn't work in the small community of Flowerdale either.
