At Home: A Short History of Private Life, by Bill Bryson. I'm only a couple of chapters into this. I bought it as an audio book to listen to on the plane while I quietly panicked. ;D Anything to do with the home fascinates me, and he's managed to dig up all manner of wonderful information. About the book: www.randomhouse.com/features/billbryson/There's a Neolithic village in England which he talks about in the early part of the book. It appears that the village was inhabited for about 600 years, according to the link below, from somewhere around 3200BC to 2200BC: www.orkneyjar.com/history/skarabrae/The buildings were first uncovered during a huge storm in 1850. elisa
