Here's one you may like, Br: vannettachapman.wordpress.com/2011/03/02/falling-to-pieces/A year after the death of her husband from cancer, a career girl finds herself in a far-away State, visiting the quilt shop left to her by her late Aunt. With some gentle suggestion and support from the local Amish women, she re-opens the store, and finds herself embroiled in a murder inquiry. A gentle and rather pretty book, with lots of references to Amish beliefs, explanations of their ways as well as many mentions of gardens and cookies! Elisa

Sounds like a wonderful book, Elisa. I love the Amish. The English books we use are Amish and used in their schools. The readers are full of wonderful, feel-good stories and I was a bit disappointed when the children would say they were able to read through them on their own and didn't need me to listen to them while they read. I've been known (more than once) to take the reader and read the stories on my own .

I have been known to do that too, haven't since about a year or so ago though. Love Laura Ingalls Wilder as well.
Have read lots of Amish styled books. You may like Wanda Brunstetter Elisa.
