The Secret Lives of Dresses by Erin McKean is a love story. It's the tale of a grandmother, the granddaughter she raised and the vintage clothing store they both came to love. There's a man in there too, but mostly there are lots of clothes, and a determination on the part of the grandmother to bring happiness to the women who visit her shop. There is one character who's a little gritty, and a couple who are quite horrid, but for the most part, this book is a lively and charming read. The cover caught our eyes when dd and I were out one day. I read it first, after she started it and lost interest. She picked it up again after I'd finished it, and ended up really enjoying the book.
