Written by Daniel Tammet, "Born on a Blue Day" tells the story of the author's life, from his earliest days as an infant in a poorer family, through to his eventual diagnosis, as an adult, with high-functioning Asperger's Syndrome. It's fascinating to read how his mind works, and to gain some small understanding of what it would be like to go through the usual milestones of growing up but without an understanding of the intricacies of human interaction. He's not only exceptionally gifted mathematically, but also has an excellent command of language. Unexpectedly, I learned something about maths from his clear explanations. I found this book to be an interesting reflection on what it's like to be different, with some very poignant moments. Definitely worth reading.
